GSU vs LPT: what data-center electrical buyers actually need to decide
One-line picture: generator to GSU to HV corridor to interconnect LPT to campus MV. Buyers who mix the two roles copy the wrong %Z and the wrong LV.
GSU: generator step-up
Steps gen voltage up to campus or transmission HV. Appears with behind-the-meter or onsite generation. See GSU specs.
LPT: interconnect / large power
Interconnects the HV corridor to campus MV, or auto-transforms between transmission voltages. Common default for a utility-served campus. See LPT specs.
Fields that differ
LV voltage, vector, parallel %Z, and bushing class. Lock MVA, kV pair, 60 Hz, cooling, OLTC, and IEEE / IEC path on every RFQ. Lock %Z if two OEMs must parallel.
When you need both
Package shape SY-PKG-BTM-GSU-LPT is an example, not stock, and the package spec page walks the coordination work. Submit equipment class both, or two linked RFQs if POs split.
Dual-source and two clocks
Dual-source is pursue-order discovery, not AVL proof. Listing targets and survey clocks are different. See lead times. FAT plus serial registry matter for VERIFY and WC companions. Switchyard Supply is not a lender.
