Power transformer lead times: catalog ARO vs market surveys
Each listing carries a catalog ARO and, where useful, a labelled market survey clock.
Catalog lead time
The ARO band on the card, confirmed on quotation. Mid-class shapes often quote in the 28 to 48 week range.
Market survey clock
Survey, press, IR, or OEM component-board signals. Always labelled separately from the catalog ARO.
- GSU average about 143.4 weeks (Wood Mackenzie via ACP, Q2 2025). Survey.
- Large / HV power TF average about 128 weeks (Wood Mackenzie). Survey.
- Hitachi Energy waits reported beyond 30 months (Nikkei, Mar 2026). Press / interview.
- HV bushings 245 to 420 kV on the order of 145 weeks have been discussed on OEM component boards.
Dual-source pursue-order is how we chase two approved channels. Bushings can co-gate assemble and ship on HV classes. Full cited table: lead-times guide.

- Wood Mackenzie commentary (2024). Industry analysis. Large substation and GSU units often cited in an about 80 to 210 week band in 2024 commentary. Survey / analysis, not a Switchyard Supply quote.
- GAO-23-106180. Utilities reported some LPTs can cost as high as about $10 million. Transport can run to hundreds of thousands of dollars for some moves. Multi-year procurement windows.
